Since Mike has passed, I have been contacted by many kind hearted and like hearted folks. Many shared their stories of dificulty in receiving help and services in times of crisis. More than a few were tragic stories of loss and injury. I began to realize I was less alone in this mess than I thought.
The turning point began first with Diane and then Lee Ellen, sisters of brothers lost in South Korea. Diane's brother David Gearson is a horrifiing tale, yet no less so than Matthew Sellers who died in police custody. After hearing from these like hearted women, I realized both the relief of being able to share with someone else who truely understands what you are going through along with the aching awareness there would be no closure even years from now due to the veil with which South Korea operates under regarding human rights abuses.
Diane, Lee and I want simple to find answers about our loved ones and seek closure to our loss. Many aspects of the cultural differences with South Korea prevent this. The issues are complicated to say the least. Nevertheless we persist.
If you have lost a loved one in South Korea, regardless of nationality or visa status I would like to encourage you to reach out to us. We can be here for you via email, skype or chat. There is comfort to be found in like hearted company.
